A Thriller by L.J. Peterson
Viral human time bombs have been injected into the world…and the clock is ticking.
An extremist organization has developed a terrifying new way to spread
biological destruction: infected human carriers who look completely ordinary—
and may not even know they have become part of the attack.
What if the people behind the epidemic are also positioned to profit from the cure?
As the threat grows, terrorism, pharmaceutical power, corporate interests
and deception become intertwined.
They’re not spies. They’re not soldiers. They’re marketers.
An American marketing team traveling through Central Asia finds itself caught
in a deadly international conspiracy—completely unprepared
for what they’re about to discover.
When an American marketing team is sent to Central Asia on what appears
to be a routine pharmaceutical assignment, they expect cultural challenges,
difficult clients, and perhaps a little adventure.
They don’t expect murder, sabotage, or a terrorist plot built around a deadly new virus.
As they are drawn deeper into the volatile crossroads of Afghanistan, Uzbekistan,
Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, they discover something far more frightening: an extremist organization
has developed a way to turn unsuspecting people into biological weapons.
And someone may be waiting to make a fortune from the cure.
Hunted, threatened and totally unprepared for the danger around them,
this unlikely team must uncover the truth behind Project Injection— before
the next wave of human time bombs is released.
The clock is ticking…

Valena Rahna liked to drive. Handling sharp, fast turns by expertly down-shifting provided her with a sensual sensation
similar to a night of skillful lovemaking.
Although her stunning looks and sexuality offered plenty of opportunity, her demanding schedule and somewhat varied duties
made carnal adventures rare. She knew she was desired by most men, and many women, who watched her walk by…especially the walk
she had perfected many years ago. Her own desire, however, had died a year earlier with the death of Jamir, her last romantic partner.
“Stupid,” she thought aloud.
Shifting gears, she remembered the lover who, having been personally chosen by Rami Mosa, leader of the “Alta Almuqua,”
had agreed to be a guinea pig for the prototype Injection serum.
“A glorious opportunity,” Mosa had told him.
By receiving the initial inoculations of the experimental virus, he would be
the tip of the sword … the first to pierce the enemy and begin the spread of its designer death.
Valena had observed at the Mazar clinic as Jamir eagerly rolled up his sleeve and allowed
old Dr. Awan to inject the untested vaccine into his system. However, unknown to all
but the old doctor, rather than spread the necessary shots over several days as planned,
Dr. Awan had elected to administer the three injections consecutively and note how long it
took for the virus to take effect.
Checking the Ford’s tachometer, she recalled how her handler, and friend, Omar Botmar and Rami Mosa observed the first injection.
Watching through a two-way mirror, she shuddered as she saw the dire effects her lover experienced shortly after the first shot.
Tremors, head and body aches, dry, raspy throat, and completely red, bloodshot eyes occurred almost immediately.
“To be expected,” the doctor calmly said to the observers. “Nothing to worry about.”
Several scientists from the Alta pharmaceutical lab also on hand observed. She remembered a tall, striking, Black executive in
an expensive suit watching quietly. She never knew his name, but learned he was an American and saw he was treated
with great respect by everyone, even Mosa.
They all watched as the second shot was administered with no apparent effects after several minutes.
Somewhat relieved, and with great ceremony, the third syringe was loaded with a pinkish liquid and inserted directly
into a thick vein in her lover’s muscular arm. Once the syringe was purged and removed, the observers stepped back. Although
it should have been several days before he felt more symptoms, Valena knew almost immediately something was wrong.
It began subtly…some slight shudders and a reflex to vomit. He began to sweat and whine, almost screaming that his skin
was hot to touch. He tore off his shirt and pants, leaving only his boxer shorts. Then she saw it. A vicious rash
of purple spots began to erupt on his chest and back…
International thrillers. Terrorism and espionage. Biological threats.
Corporate conspiracies. High-stakes travel. Unexpected twists. Ordinary people caught in extraordinary circumstances…and a touch of humor.
INJECTION has them all. It’s a thriller in which the people trying to stop the catastrophe
aren’t trained spies or soldiers—they’re a team of everyday American marketing executives
who find themselves far from home … and very much out of their depth.
